Today I want to write about a great relaxation method. Most of us know it, but don’t apply it. It is a combination between physical and mental relaxation that will surely take the stress off your shoulders. It worked for me so it should work for you too.
Everyone of us has bad days when we have a lot going on at work, school or home. At the end of the day we fall down into our beds and try to get a good night sleep but it just won’t come. I want to show you a great method that can be done on weekends or when you have some spare time just for you.
First, what I want you to do is to prepare some towels and some clean pajamas. Some nice smelling oils or some candles. Secondly, you want to get yourself clean because stress comes from the feeling that you are dirty or covered with something. This is something at a mental state that most of us have no idea about. So take a nice shower and clean yourself up as best as you can.
Then while you turn on the water for a hot bath (I know you enjoy hot baths as much as I do) prepare a nice linden tea that you will have before going to bath or why not, while taking the bath. Add some nice smelling aromas or something just to add to the pleasure and relaxation. In the future I will show you how to prepare homemade oils and bath potions.
After you got in the bath and after you’ve had your linden tea, lets say 10 minutes after that, try closing your eyes and relaxing. Try to feel that you are in hot spring and start massaging your head and gently massage your face muscles for 10-15 minutes. This will be a huge stress relief. The contraction of the face muscles add to the general body tension and most of us ignore that.
After you got out of the bath dry yourself and then massage your whole body with some oils. This way you will feel refreshed. After that take on some fresh pajamas and get in your bed. Before going to sleep open your computer or something that can play music and put some nice relaxation music. Maybe some classic music or some asian relaxation music (this works better for me).
Start massaging your feet and toes. Did you know that our feet carry about 20 train wagons daily? We have so many energy points in our feet, so massaging them will do you very good.
After all of this get in bed with the music on and try to focus on your respiration. Try doing some breathing exercises. Nothing too fancy, just something basic. Inhale for 5 seconds then exhale for another 5. All this time imagine you are in a green place like a forest, plain or a mountain and the air is fresh. Try doing this 10 or 20 times and then try to get some sleep.
Almost forgot, before getting into bed try to ventilate the room you sleep in for 15 minutes. It will help you sleep better. Try doing all of this and I ensure you that you will get a full recharge and better you will get off all the tress you’ve accumulated in time.
